Banking & Finance15+ years

Fifteen years inside critical banking systems.

Fifteen years on applications that are not allowed to fail. Ten of them inside banking and payment systems. And since late 2025, an entire information system I built and still run myself, from its identity provider to the two apps on the store.

07

Full-stack delivery

Architecture, technical foundations, development, CI/CD, release and production support, end to end

08

Platform architecture

IACSAS — a modular Spring Modulith backend, its identity server, edge gateway, satellite web apps and mobile apps, designed and operated end to end

Trajectory

Nine engagements, mostly inside banks.

  1. Jul 2024 — Jun 2026

    BPCE / PayPlug

    Paris

    Senior Java / React Developer

The reporting a merchant logs into to follow their card and terminal payments, and the management of the payment methods themselves.

    • Built the reporting merchants use to follow their card and point-of-sale transactions
    • Worked on how payment methods are managed across the platform
    • Java 21 and Spring Boot behind, React microfrontends in front, delivered as one product
    • Relational and document stores side by side (PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MongoDB), with RabbitMQ carrying the events between services
    • Ran the reporting analytics on GCP and BigQuery

  2. Sep 2020 — Jun 2024

    Société Générale

    Val de Fontenay

    Tech Lead Full Stack

Qure UI, where the bank configures the rules that check its own data quality.

    • Owned the architecture, from the first specification to the shape it kept
    • Laid the technical foundations and the DevOps environment the team worked in
    • Carried it through development, testing and integration, then out to production
    • Moved the platform off OpenShift onto Docker EE
    • Held production support and incident management on the live perimeter

  3. Aug 2019 — Jul 2020

    Cerqual

    Paris

    Full Stack Engineer

The assessment tool that rates housing quality before certification.

    • Added features to the rating engine, with the tests that had to come with them
    • Worked through the defect backlog of a tool already in use

  4. Sep 2017 — Aug 2019

    Société Générale

    Rueil-Malmaison

    Full Stack Engineer

Opra, where intermediaries, suppliers, products and catalogues are configured; and E-sign, electronic signature built on Trust & Sign.

    • Designed the architecture and wrote the technical specifications
    • Built the foundations, and settled the open questions with POCs rather than opinions
    • Took both applications from development through integration and into production
    • Stayed with the acceptance-testing team until the defects were closed

  5. Mar 2016 — Aug 2017

    AXA Banque

    Val de Fontenay

    Full Stack Engineer

Seven retail-banking applications to keep running and extend, incidents to unblock in production, and legacy components to migrate off.

    • Moved version control from CVS to Git and brought in continuous integration
    • Took the codebase from Java 4 to Java 8
    • Handled production incidents on a perimeter that customers were using

  6. Sep 2014 — Feb 2016

    Barclays

    Paris

    Java / J2EE Engineer

Houston-PEN, which fights bank-transfer fraud; and KYC, indexing documents into the FileNet archive in bulk.

    • Wrote the batch processing, from the requirement analysis to the code
    • Covered it with unit and integration tests, and left it documented
    • Diagnosed production incidents and fixed what caused them

    Java 7Spring BatchRESTOracleMyBatisMavenJenkinsControl-MXML

  7. Nov 2013 — Aug 2014

    Crédit Agricole CIB

    La Défense

    Java Engineer

SIS, the bank's securitisation platform, and Calyx, which analyses debtor and liquidity risk.

    • Owned the deployments, from integration to the production release
    • Built features in Java and the reporting in C# / WPF
    • Automated the on-call tasks that kept coming back, with shell scripting and profiling
    • Sat between the support, production and offshore teams and kept them talking

  8. Sep 2012 — Sep 2013

    Schneider Electric

    Grenoble

    Technical Project Manager

Rebuilding the interface of the quality management system, end to end.

    • Went to the users for the requirements, then wrote the specification
    • Framed and ran the project, and chose the technical solution it rested on
    • Carried it from specification to development, testing and user training
    • Led the change management, because a new interface is a habit to undo

  9. Sep 2011 — Sep 2012

    Banque Populaire

    Nantes

    Java / JEE Engineer

Document Manager, the application that produces the bank's documents.

    • Turned change requests into functional and technical specifications
    • Ran the work from design through development, testing and acceptance
    • Steered the integration and production releases, and trained the people who would use it

Outside the day job

An information system built on my own time.

IACSAS

Remote

Software Architect — founding Technical Lead

A complete information system, built and operated by one person: a modular backend, its own identity provider, the edge in front of it, a fleet of satellite web applications, and two mobile apps on the store.

  • Structured the backend as a Spring Modulith monolith across 12 domain modules with enforced boundaries, rather than a distributed system nobody needed
  • Built the OAuth2 / OIDC authorization server: browser sessions, mobile PKCE flows and machine-to-machine clients, with no public API exposed by the core
  • Ran it on infrastructure I manage myself: an APISIX edge with WAF and intrusion response, TLS renewed without downtime, secrets out of the repositories, CI/CD to two environments
  • Shipped two React Native applications to the store, with over-the-air updates and full right-to-left Arabic support
  • Delivered the satellite web applications as server-to-server Next.js clients, each its own deployable
  • Built the platform with agentic AI development, Claude Code and Gemini, including a corpus pipeline where two different models read the same page and only their disagreements reach a human reviewer
